Coto De Caza Pavement Program

Client

CZ Master Association

Client Location

Rancho Santa Margarita, California

Client Objectives

Nondestructive testing, using a falling weight deflectometer, and pavement surveys provided data for engineering analyses of remaining service life. The analyses provided a basis for implementing a systematic pavement maintenance and rehabilitation program. We also prepared maintenance and repair contract documents and performed field observation and testing of pavement rehabilitation and maintenance.

The photograph shows a pavement milling machine removing a portion of existing pavement in preparation for overlay placement.office building and parking lot.
The available parking area was enlarged by constructing retaining walls cut into the toe of slope behind the building area.

Project Details

Cliff-face stabilization solutions save San Diego Landmark.

Design two slope stabilization walls incorporating shotcrete and drilled double corrosion-protected tie-backs. The wall to the right was laid out to incorporate ramps between the walls, to be used as an access walkway, rather than parallel walls as at the left. Sculptured shotcrete left the finished product blending in with the surrounding unvegetated bluffs.
